My native city called Yoshkar-Ola
But do you know what it means?
From Mari language it translates
Like Burg constructed from red bricks
In forest lands north of the Volga river,
Among tall pines and green firs
It was established four hundred years
Ago, and many times since that
People has been changing his siluet.
It's land of birds and brown bears.
It's land of men with no fears.
They often ski in frost winters
And go rafting on fast rivers...
I left my home ten years ago,
But every year I want return
And see again my life reburn.
I'm walking on your river's banks
And western style promenades.
For a vacation I came by train
To see my Rotenburg again.
